Shanghai Volkswagen Leads Auto Market of 1stQuarter

Recently, several auto enterprises have released their sales data. In 1st quarter of 2014, the sales volume of Shanghai Volkswagen has exceeded 510,000 and leads 1st in the passenger car market, ahead of Shanghai General Motor and FAW-Volkswagen. For a long time, there has been little difference among Shanghai General Motor, Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen. But from second half year of 2013, Shanghai Volkswagen began to show its advantage in A-level market with production layout of familization. In the whole passenger market, German cars have exceeded Japanese cars in shares, ranking 1st place. This situation has put more pressure on American cars and many experts predicted the competition between German and American cars will be upgraded along with more brand new cars.

The total volume of Regal, Lacrosse and Malibu from Shanghai General Motor in 1st quarter was 77,000. The sales volume of Passat was 75,000 and together with 6,000 of Skoda, Shanghai Volkswagen shares the same sales data with Shanghai General Motor in B level market. In SUV market, the sales data of Shanghai General Motor in 1stquarter was totally 37,000 and the data of Tiguan from Shanghai Volkswagen in first 2 months was more than 45,000. Many experts think the biggest difference between Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai General Motor is in A level market.

From second half of last year, Shanghai Volkswagen released familization strategy and there had been 5 derivative models of Lavida. In 1st quarter, the sales data of Lavida family was totally 150,000, far ahead 100,000 of Focus. Besides, entry level models also contribute a lot for the sales data of Shanghai Volkswagen. From the view of specific model, for example, new Santana has totally upgraded for Chinese market in dimension and space.

In A level market, the sale volume of Shanghai Volkswagen in 1st quarter 2014 was 275,000 and 213,000 for Shanghai General Motor, 209,000 for FAW-Volkswagen. In this year, the sales data in A level market will influence total data of joint venture enterprises.
