The report sums up the development of the global and Chinese telecom operators in 2005. Through accurate data and full elaboration, it describes the development characteristics of China's telecommunications operation market from various angles, and presents comprehensive evaluation of six basic operators in six aspects including networks, business operation and main market strategy.
 
The report points out the following: Competition intensified between Chinese telecom operators in 2004. In the capital market, basic telecom operators got public-listed; China Netcom successfully launched its IPO in the U.S. and Hong Kong. In the respect of organization and management, China Railcom was transferred to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), basic telecom operators exchanged top executives, and their provincial branches traded second-level department managers. In the respect of network building and investment, broadband services remained the focus of development for fixed network operators. Optimization of GSM and CDMA networks has been the main work at China Mobile and China Unicom for the past two years. In 2004, Chinese telecom operators further participated in market competition as the government stepped up policy regulation.
