By the end of 2006, there have been 91 wind power plants that have been completed or are in progress in China, total installed capacity reached 2.6 million kw. The wind power market grew by 106.39% in 2006 and is expected to speed up in 2007, and then will achieve the goal of 5 million kw ahead of schedule in 2008. However, the installed capacity of wind power in China accounted for only 0.41% of total installed capacity of power by the end of 2006, ranking sixth in the world.

Among the existing 50 domestic wind power equipment manufacturers, no more than 5 including Goldwind Science & Technology, Dalian Heavy Industries and Dongfang Steam Turbine Works are able to produce with mass MW-level wind power units in 2007.

Wind power prices in China are as follows:

1. Winning price in the bidding for wind power concession projects: 0.4365-0.519 Yuan, 0.477 Yuan on the average;
2. Power purchase price of established wind power plants: 0.46-1.2 Yuan and 0.726 Yuan on the average.
3. Sales price of home-made wind power unit (600kw and around 4,500 Yuan/kw
4. Sales price of home-made MW-level wind power unit: more than 6.000 Yuan/kw
5. Investment in wind power plant construction: 8,000-10,000 Yuan/kw
