The high electric power demand in China triggered the wave of installation construction. In 2006, the newly increased installation exceeded 100 million kw all over China, which ended the situation of short electric power supply. Meanwhile, China electric power industry will continue to develop rapidly in 2007.

Under the background that the state pushes new energy construction energetically, it is forecasted that the ratio of hydropower installation will increase continuously during the "11th Five-year Plan" Period, and it will amount to about 30% by 2010.

The company owns Gezhouba Hydropower Station, and successively acquires the 8 power generation sets on the left bank of Three Gorges project that have put into operation. In 2006, the company purchased 11.2% equities of Guangzhou Holding and 45% equities of Hubei Energy. Currently, its total installation capacity has amounted to 9.45 million kw, and its annual electricity generating amount reaches 46.4 billion kwh.
