The annual revenue of DHL, UPS, Fedex and TNT all exceeded USD 100 billion in international market, accounting for more than 70% of global express delivery market.

China express delivery industry can be divided into three segmented markets: international express delivery, domestic express delivery in different cities and express delivery in the same city.

In the field of international express delivery, HL, UPS, TNT and Fedex account for 75%, while EMS takes no more than 20%.

More than 80% of EMS is concentrated in domestic express delivery in different cities; meanwhile, it occupies the high market share, so it has the outstanding advantages in this field. Its business covers nearly 2,000 cities all over China, and about 16,000 self-operation networks. The other non-mail state-owned enterprises, such as China Air Express Co., Ltd, China Railway Express Co., Ltd, and Yangtze River Express mainly focus on the market as well.

The express delivery of the same city market is highly dispersed and competitive. The small public-run enterprises occupy more than 75% of the market, which is the most competitive market now.

The main business of Sinotrans Air Transportation Development Co., Ltd. (Sinotrans Air) includes air express, air cargo transportation agent, and domestic cargo logistics etc. The air express revenue accounted for 90.3% of the main business revenue in 2006.
