Along with the economic development, China’s NOx emission increased from 5 million tons in the 1980s to 24 million tons in 2009. In order to control the NOx emission, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of PRC required, in 2009, that the thermal power units of key areas must be installed with denitration devices. It is estimated that, from 2010 to 2014, the annual market capacity of China’s thermal power denitration averages RMB11.5 billion, of which the average annual denitration market capacity of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze Delta Area, and Pearl River Delta Area is RMB4 billion, RMB3.7 billion, and RMB1.3 billion respectively.

The main technologies of China’s denitration industry are introduced from abroad, such as America’ s B&W, Germany’s Lurgi and FBE, Japan’s Mitsubishi and Hitachi, Italy’s TKC, etc. At present, Chinese manufacturers which provide denitration project include CPI Yuanda Environmental-Protection Engineering Co., Ltd, Fujian Longking Co., Ltd, Dong Fang Boiler Group, Harbin Boiler Company, Beijing Guodian Longyuan Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd., etc.
