According to reports Honda has got rid of its chariness about self-driving cars and has made it public that it wants to get autonomous cars on city streets by 2025.
Honda meanwhile is focussing on improving the coordination between the R&D and manufacturing department so that it can keep the costs of the vehicles to be launched at an optimum level.
The company has also unveiled its plans to get two-third of its lineup electrified by 2030, presently they comprise just about 5%.In October last year it has established an EV division within its research and development unit. Honda is also going to launch China-exclusive EV scheduled to go on sale next year and will also be introducing in the U.S. a plug-in hybrid and fully electric version to its Clarity line, this year.
The other automakers are aiming at 2021 to be the year when they will be launching their autonomous vehicles, Honda’s goal to enter the segment late can be called a wise decision as the risk of being first to foray into the segment might not marry up to the risk appetite of the traditional automaker.
