Chinese white wine sector maintained a stable growth in 2004.The production volume maintained at a level of 3 million tons. Competition is focused on the marketing strategy. The gap regarding performance and growth rate among companies is getting larger and larger. The concentration of the industry is rising, which benefits to leading enterprises.
SARS made beer production decrease in 2003. And year 2004 saw an explosive growth rate of 15.2% in beer production. The annual growth rate of the beer sector in China will maintain at the level of 6-8% in the next several years, the entire beer sector will keep stable growing trends, and leading beer firms will occupy increasingly large market shares in the next years, starting 2005-2006.
As regards consumption preference, brand recognition and culture identity, we hold a very optimistic view regarding the grape wine sector. Year 2004 saw a growth rate of 17.6% in China's grape wine production, which indicated an accelerating development, compared to the 10-15% rate in 2003. The grape wine sector in China will maintain the fast growing trend with a growth rate of 20% in 2005 and 2006.
The 2004 annual reports and 2005 quarter reports of the industry represented big performance differences among the listed companies in the Chinese white wine sector.
