Along with the advancement of economy, residents' income and social security level, China's consumption level has maintained a steadily growing momentum since 2006. In 2006, the total retail value of social consumer goods amounted to RMB 7.64 trillion, up by 13.7% year on year.
In Jan-May 2007, the accumulative retail value of social consumer goods in China reached about RMB 3.50 trillion, up by 15.2%, the historical largest annual growth rate. Besides, the y-o-y growth in Feb-May 2007 was 14.7%, 14.9%, 15.5% and 15.9% respectively, indicating that the accelerated development of consumer goods market.
It's estimated that in 2007, the total retail value of social consumer goods will be RMB 8.7 trillion, increasing by around 14.5%.
