In 2006, China's foreign trade grew steadily, the total import and export value amounted to USD 1,760.69 billion, up 23.8% year-on-year, among which the import value was USD 969.08 billion, up 27.2% and, the export value was USD 791.61 billion, up b20.0%; the accumulated trade surplus reached USD 177.47 billion, increasing 74.2% from a year earlier.
In 2006, China's exports to America had a total value of USD 203.47 billion, up 24.9% year-on-year; the products imported from America worth USD 59.21 billion, up 21.8% from a year earlier; the accumulated trade surplus amounted to USD 144.26 billion, up 26.3%. The exports to EU and imports from EU had the value of USD 181.98 billion and USD 90.32 billion respectively, up 26.6% and 22.7% separately, generating the accumulated trade surplus of USD 91.66 billion, up 30.7% year-on-year. The exports to Japan and imports from Japan totaled up to USD 91.77 billion and 115.81 billion respectively, up 9.1% and 15.3% separately, putting the trade deficit to USD 24.04 billion, up 46.8% year-on-year.
