The China's Passenger cars market, especially the private passenger cars market is developing tremendously. In 2002, the private passenger cars took up to 85% of the total passenger cars has been purchased in Beijing. In the district of Guangdong Pearl River Delta, the private passenger cars, especially the luxury ones, have maintained a high growth rate. Meanwhile, the passenger cars consumption has become the private consumption hotspot in cities such as Chengdu, Nanjing, Zhengzhou and so on. And the concept of treating passenger cars as durable goods has been gradually accepted by the market.
Imagine that each urban family owns a passenger car as commonly as owning TVs or fridges, how huge the market scale would be? According to RIC’s forecast, China will have 368.65 million families by the end of 2007, among which there will be 192.35 million urban families. Suppose that only 5% of those families will purchase passenger cars from 2004 to 2007, it means at least 10 million passenger cars purchasing demands during the five years. However, in 2002, the sales volume was slightly more than 1 million, and not all the passenger cars were purchased for private purpose. In conclusion, it is not difficult to realize the great future purchasing potential in the private passenger car consumption market.
Furthermore, in this report, there are the market share status of various brands in various market segments.
