With rich wind energy resources around the world, wind turbine installed capacity will reach 1.26 billion kW by the year of 2020 (the figure is 17 times the wind turbine installed capacity at present) and, wind Power generation will be up to 3.1 trillion kWh, a share of 12% in total electric generation in China. In 2006, the newly installed wind power equipment worldwide was valued by USD 23 billion. The rapidly growing industry attracts the investments of many enterprises into wind power equipment manufacturing industry. It is forecasted that the market capacity of wind power equipment worldwide will reach USD 32 billion by 2010 and USD 120 billion by 2020.
In 2006, the newly installed wind turbines in China amounted to 1,337 MW, a share of 8.9% in the newly installed capacity worldwide. As of 2006, the wind turbine installed capacity accumulated to 2,604 MW, up 105.29% and taking 3.5% of global installation capacity. By 2010, the wind power installed capacity will be up to 5,000 MW, and the figure will arrive at 30,000 MW by 2020. As is predicted, the wind turbine installed capacity in China will reach 20,241 MW by 2010 and 224,923 MW by 2020, taking a respective share of 2.02% and 14.06% in total installation capacity of electric power in China.
