There are about 60 countries and regions as well as more than 1100 space companies taking part in R&D, manufacturing, disposition and operation of various military, civilian and commercial satellite systems in the world. In addition, more than 200 countries and regions have been utilizing outcomes of satellite communication, navigation, weather and remote sensing satellite and formed a satellite industry of annual revenue of USD 90-100 billion.
The globe will produce 236 commercial communication satellites running in geosynchronous orbit or ICO in the following 10 years, whose total value will amount to USD 26 billion. In 2006, more than 90% sales revenue of China Satcom was from China Spacesat, and the net profit of China Spacesat was RMB 82.25 million. So, after deducting the loss of the other companies and the minority shareholders' interest of China Spacesat, the net profit of China Satcom amounted to RMB 55.15 million.
