Smartphone vendor HTC has been appraised as the most valuable Taiwan-based global brand in 2011 with a brand value of US$3.605 billion, according to the government-sponsored Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
The annual appraisal of Taiwan-based global brands was conducted by TAITRA and undertaken by Interbrand, a UK-based consulting company, and Taiwan-based magazine publisher Business Next, TAITRA indicated.
HTC transformed its business operations from a handset ODM to an own-brand vendor four years ago and ranked fourth with an appraised value of US$1.203 billion in 2009, and second with US$1.371 billion in 2010. In 2011, HTC surpasses PC vendor Acer to become the most valuable brand.
The top-10 Taiwan-based global brands in 2011 have a total brand value of US$11.558 billion, up 43.9% from 2010.
