Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 4) - The SAIC-GM-Wuling brand has met its 2011 target of 1.3 million vehicle sales, dnkb.com.cn reported today. The 1.3 million figure is five percent higher than the number of Wuling vehicles sold in 2010. Meanwhile, the brand's market coverage has also increased last year.
SAIC-GM-Wuling, which specializes in trucks and vans, currently depends on three major models: the Sunshine (pictured above), Rongguang (pictured below) and Hongtu. The new generation Sunshine, which made its debut in early 2010, brought upgrades to interior space, fuel efficiency and safety. The van has made sales of 534,000 units this year, nabbing the title of most popular Chinese microvan of 2011. Meanwhile, Sales of the Rongguang van, sold overseas as the Chevrolet N300, are some of the fastest growing in the segment. SAIC-GM-Wuling signed an agreement with General Motors Egypt to begin manufacturing the Rongguang in Egypt.
