The number of WiMAX services subscribers in Taiwan reached 131,000 at the end of November 2011, an increase of 84.5% from the number recorded at the end of June 2011, according to data compiled by the National Communications Commission (NCC).

Of six WiMAX operators in Taiwan, Global Mobile along accounted for two-thirds of total WiMAX subscribers, the data indicated.

Global Mobile aims to attract a total of 250,000 subscribers in the second half of 2012, the company said earlier.

Meanwhile, combined revenues generated by the six WiMAX operators totaled NT$194 million (US$6.41 million) in the first 11 months of 2011, NCC added.
