Tyson Food Inc, the U.S.- based meat production giant, is in talks with China for the export of pork to China, said Richard Bond, the chief executive of Tyson. But there is no clear timetable on the deal yet.

Due to a high death rate of hogs and an increasing demand of pork in China, Tyson believes there will be significant opportunities for them to tap on the market. Meanwhile, the U.S. largest meat producer is negotiatingtalking with COFCO, China's largest oils and food importer and exporter, for cooperation possibilities.

China has more than one billion people who have been buying U.S. pork. Analysts estimated more purchases in China as hog and pork supply has been shrinking because of disease since last May.

Last year, Smithfield Foods Inc, another U.S. meat producer, inked a deal with COFCO to export 60 billion lbs of U.S. pork to China.
