C2C (customer to customer) online auctions in the China market reached a total sales transaction value of 15.26 billion yuan (US$2.05 billion) during the fourth quarter of 2007, growing by 24.1% on quarter and by 84.5% on year, according to China-based consulting company Analysys International.
TaoTao operated by the Alibaba Group was the largest C2C web portal with a market share of more than 80% in the fourth quarter of last year. PaiPai and eBay were the second and third largest, Analysys pointed out. Baidu, the largest search engine and provider of online advertising services in China, plans to launch its own C2C platform later this year, Analysys indicated.
