KFC announced it will raise list price on some of its burgers and chicken snacks in more than 2,000 outlets in China, citing higher prices in raw materials and public utilities.
The price hike will be 0.50 yuan (seven US cents) to 1.50 yuan on selected products and set meals effective from yesterday, the company said in a statement. Some drink prices were also increased by 0.50 yuan on average.
KFC said the price increase is due to the significant climb in the cost of raw materials, labor cost and public utilities. It claimed to try to keep the prices stable within the higher cost pressure.
It is the second time KFC has had to raise prices since last year when the nation's biggest fast food chain announced an extra 0.50 yuan to one yuan on its products.
