Global top-four TFT-LCD panel makers Samsung Electronics, LG Display, Chimei Innolux Corporation (CMI) and AU Optronics (AUO) have all reported revenue growth for the first quarter of 2010, and are optimistic about their performance in the second quarter of 2010.
Samsung expects LCD TV shipments in the second quarter to be stable due to the World Cup, China's Labor Day holidays and strong demand from developed countries. LED-backlit models will account for 15% of the total LCD TV market in the second quarter.
LG Display expects its area shipment to increase 11-13% sequentially in the second quarter, while AUO expects large-size panel shipments to grow by 10%.
Market sources noted that CMI's first-quarter results could not show the company's actual profitability and operation as the company officially came into being only on March 18.
