Electronic manufacturing service (EMS) providers are expected to see their share of the notebook manufacturing market rise from 2.95% in 2009 to 8.25% in 2010, according to sources from notebook players citing figures from IDC.

The president of Compal Electronics has also forecast that EMS providers including Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Flextronics, will take 8-10% of the global notebook manufacturing orders in 2010, according to previous reports.

Market share growth in 2010 will be mainly due to Sony's plans to outsource 70% of its notebook production, and Asustek's 20% to Foxconn, as well as HP's 13% and Apple's 6% to EMS providers, the sources noted.
