Focus Media Q1 Loss Under $1m

Out-of-home advertiser Focus Media (Nasdaq:FMCN) made a net loss of $954,000 for the first quarter of 2010 compared to a net loss of $5.69 million for the same period last year and a loss of $53.02 million for the previous quarter, the company reported May 21. Net loss per diluted American depository shares was $0.01. Focus Media recorded revenues of $124.88 million, up from $104.71 million a year-ago and down from $144.35 in the previous quarter. LCD advertising generated revenues of $55.43 million, up from $38.31 million in the first quarter of last year but down from $70.66 million in the prior quarter. The company's poster frame network brought in $27.41 million, while internet advertising made $29.44 million.

The company expects second quarter net revenues from its LCD display, in-store and poster frame networks to be $99 million to $101.5 million, up 19% quarter-on-quarter, and net revenues from its internet advertising and its movie theater and traditional outdoor billboard network of $43 million to $45 million.
