Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) has reached full utilization in June, and the company expects monthly revenues in the third quarter of 2010 to exceed NT$100 million (US$3.09 million), and overall revenues for the quarter to increase over 10% sequentially.
The company noted that its 6G plant will mainly cater to LCD monitor and notebook panel production. Monitor panel production will focus on the 18.5- and 21.5-inch segments, and notebook panel production on the 14- and 15.6-inch segments, company president Lin Sheng-chang said.
Half of the 6G capacity, or 50,000-60,000 substrates, will be for notebook panel production in the second half of 2010, Lin added.
Commenting on the recent drops in panel prices despite supply shortage and rising material costs, Lin indicated that the situation is not normal but he is optimistic about the overall market demand, as clients' inventory levels have dropped compared to the levels in April-May.
