Northwest China to build their first inland fishing port

The project for an inland fishing port on Bosten Lake in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang) has recently been approved by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and will begin construction in early September of this year.

It will be the first constructed inland fishing port in Northwest China and will cost a total of 5.68 million yuan to build. Located in Yanqi Basin, South of Tianshan Mountain in Xinjiang, Bosten Lake is the largest inland freshwater lake in China covering an area of 1,400 kilometers squared with water depth of over 8 meters on average and a surface which is 1,048 meters above sea level.

What is more, Bosten Lake is the largest organic aquaculture production area in China, with massive output of crucian, leuciscus baicalensis, perch, mud mussel, shrimp and pearl mussel.
