The China Administration of Radio Film and Television is preparing the 3D TV standard, which covers shooting, editing, producing and broadcasting, Du Baichuan, an official with the administration, told National Business Daily on Monday.

The country's first 3D TV channel is to be on the air in Tianjin this year, providing movies, TV series, news reports, and live shows, reported the newspaper.

Tianjin is focusing on the development of 3D camcorders, displays, and projection equipments, said administration spokesman Zhu Hong.

Tianjin is to build a 3D industrial research and development center. A 3D movie and TV production center, with a total investment of 960 million yuan ($141 million), was set up in Tianjin in September 2009.
