Most IC distributors are positive about the outlook for the third quarter, anticipating demand will pick up as consumer product vendors are building up inventory for back-to-school demand as well as for the upcoming Christmas holiday season.
Clients from the PC and handset sectors have started building up their IC inventories, according to sources at IC distributors.
WPG Holdings predicted earlier that its revenues will grow 5.7-10.5% sequentially to NT$66-69 billion (US$2.07-2.16 billion) in the third quarter, while peer WT Microelectronics also forecast its revenues will post 5-10% sequential growth in the third quarter.
Zenitron also expects that sales of notebooks, consumer electronic products, smartphones, and LCD TVs to push up demand for IC products this quarter.
