Memory module maker Kingston Technology has recently cut into the supply chain of High Tech Computer (HTC) with its in-house developed eMMC NAND flash memory device, which uses Toshiba's chips and is composed of Elpida Memory's mobile RAM solutions, according to industry sources.

Kingston's eMMC solutions, in an MCP (multi-chip package), are packaged by Powertech Technology (PTI), the sources indicated. Shipments to HTC have already started.

Kingston, whose eMMC development is running ahead of schedule, has now joined Samsung Electronics and SanDisk as a supplier of embedded memory solutions for HTC, the sources said.

Both SanDisk's proprietary iNAND and Samsung's moviNAND embedded memory devices are now available in capacities of up to 64GB.
