China builds cereal trading center in central Wuhan

   Date:2006/12/31

China has given the green light to constructing a 200-million-yuan state cereal trading center in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.

An official with the city's grain department said the center is part of a project to develop a modern grain logistics zone in Wuhan. The grain logistics project, jointly managed by the State Grain Administration and the governments of Hubei and Wuhan, aims to capitalize on Wuhan's strengths in grain science, production and transportation.

The project, which includes support infrastructures, storage facilities, and a grain and oil wholesale and distribution center, will cost more than 1 billion yuan, said the official. The project, which will be finished in two years, will boost grain storage capacity to 6.6 million tons and be a key part of central China's grain production base.
