SYMANTEC Corp expects to triple its revenue in China within five years by raising distribution channels, seeking opportunities in cloud computing and mobile Internet as well as possible acquisitions, the world's No. 1 Internet security tool vendor, said.

But the United States-based firm, well known for its Norton security software, will not offer free consumer-oriented products in China where many companies, including Qihoo 360 and Kingsoft, have provided free services, it said during the Symantec Vision 2010 conference held in Beijing yesterday.

China and East Europe are the fastest growing regions for Symantec, President and CEO Enrique Salem said.

In the next five years, Symantec China's revenue is set to triple and market share will grow to 30 percent from the current 25 percent, according to Andy Wu, president of Symantec China.
