US-based El Camino Hospital will soon unveil its new Chinese Health Initiative (CHI), the first program of its kind in the Silicon Valley region. Hospital executives and members of the group’s Advisory Board will focus on key components to address the troubling health disparities in the Chinese community, including the high prevalence of chronic Hepatitis B, liver cancer, tuberculosis, stroke and stomach cancer.
The team will highlight the findings regarding the importance of culturally appropriate and language-specific care in the Chinese community and demographic factors underlining the importance of the program including Chinese and Asian population growth projections.
The announcement will be chaired by Mr Ken Graham, CEO, El Camino Hospital; Mr Peter Fung, M. D., Sunnyvale neurologist and medical director of the El Camino Hospital Stroke Center; member of the CHI Advisory Board; Ms Cecile Currier, El Camino Hospital Vice President of Corporate and Community Health Services; Mr Kenneth Liu, M. D., Mountain View obstetrician/gynecologist; member of the CHI Advisory Board and Jean Yu, Manager, Chinese Health Initiative.
