Cando, a Taiwan-based maker of touch panels, expects increasing shipments of medium-sized touch panels used in tablet PCs and small-sized ones used in smartphones to account for 50-60% and 20-30% respectively of its 2011 revenues, according to the company.

Cando's shipments of touch panels used in tablet PCs include touch sensors delivered to Taiwan-based TPK Holding, a main supplier of touch panels used in iPad 2.

Cando has fully utilized the production capacity at its 4.5-generation factory in northern Taiwan and has improved production efficiency to hike monthly capacity from 70,000-80,000 panels to 80,000-100,000 units. In addition, the company is constructing its second 4.5G factory in the Central Taiwan Science Park and will complete it by the end of 2011.

In addition, Cando has two 3.5G factories, with one in northern Taiwan using part of capacity to make color filters of TFT-LCD panels. The portion of capacity will be gradually shifted to production of touch panels by the end of 2011.
