August 1 – Zheng Yutong, chairman of New World Development (0017.HK), spent $570 million to acquire five hotels in America, reports 163.com. The hotels include Carlyle, Rosewood Inn, Rosewood Little Dix Bay, Rosewood Crescent Hotel and Rosewood Mansion.
Zheng previously spent HK$380 million to acquire a 60.93-percent stake in a property company in the UK.
New World Development is engaged in property investment and development, contracting, infrastructure operations, telecommunication services, department store, hotel and restaurant operations and telecommunications, media and technology businesses.
