Domestic Auto Sales Up 3.22% In First 7 Months

August 11 -- China posted a 3.22-percent increase in vehicle sales to 1.06 million units in the first seven months, reports Xinhua News Agency, citing data published by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. All percentage changes in this article are year-on-year.

Vehicle production volume in the same period reached 10.46 million units, up 2.33 percent. Sales of passenger vehicles grew 5.89 percent to 8.12 million units, with production volume of 8.1 million units, up 5.42 percent. Commercial vehicle sales fell 4.68 percent to 2.48 million units, with production volume of 2.37 million units, down seven percent.

Automakers SGMW, Shanghai General Motors, Shanghai Volkswagen, FAW Volkswagen, Nissan, Beijing Hyundai Motor, Chery, Chongqing Changan Automobile, BYD and FAW Toyota were the top ten vehicle sellers in the first seven months in terms of sales volume.

Shares of Chongqing Changan Automobile Company (000625) rose 1.14 percent to trade at 4.45 yuan.
