$400,000 A Month Spent on Times Square Ads

   Date:2011/08/19

Wuliangye Group, also known as "Chinese Spirit King", has produced an advertisement of its white liquor for an electric billboard in New York City's Times Square, paying as much as 400,000 US dollars per month for the advertisement space.

China National Radio reports that Wuliangye's advertisement video, which has become one of the most expensive billboard campaigns in New York, uses the advertising screen leased by China's Xinhua Gallery Media Co., Ltd.

Starting on August 1, the Xinhua gallery media company launched a test run for its advertising screen located in New York City's Times Square. The 19-meter high, 12-meter wide LCD screen is located at the prime location of No.2 Times Square, which also features ads by Coca-Cola and Samsung.

Regarding the sky-high fees Wuliangye Group has paid for the advertising space, other Chinese brands of white liquor responded by saying the method is feasible. However, they say it is only worth adopting so long as the expensive advertisement is deemed worthwhile, in relation to the amount by which it helps boost brand image and international presence.
