Egg Price Rises for 10 Straight Weeks

September 7 (CapitalVue) -- The prices of eggs and pork rose between August 29 and September 7, reports the Beijing News, citing the Ministry of Commerce. All figures presented below are week-on-week and refer to the seven-day period mentioned above.

The average retail egg price rose one percent to RMB 10.31 per kilogram, hitting a 10-week high.

The pork price grew 0.4% to RMB 26.32 per kilogram, breaking the highest record of RMB 26.12 per kilogram. In late August, hindquarter pork reached RMB 31.38 per kilogram, while streaky pork price was RMB 30.37 per kilogram.

Average wholesale prices of 18 kinds of vegetables grew 1.5%, a 4.6% drop in growth rate. Eggplant, bitter melon and onion lead the growth in price increases.

Shares of Shenzhen Agricultural Products Co. Ltd. (000061.SZ) ended up 1.28% to RMB 14.26 on Wednesday.
