The first China International Advanced Materials expo has kicked off in Harbin, in China's Heilongjiang Province on Tuesday.
At the expo, China will unveil the 12th Five-Year Program for the development of the advanced materials industry, which will prioritize the development of six types of advanced materials, including advanced iron and steel and new power battery materials. Officials say it's part of the country's efforts ensure that at least 70 percent of these materials are made at home.
The advanced materials industry is one of the seven strategic emerging industries China aims to boost during the next 5 years, in its bid to transform the country's economic growth model.
