BERLIN, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- The world leading luxury automobile producer Daimler got a strong boost in demand from domestic market in August, with its sales volume of Mercedes-Benz cars keeping on rise.

The sales of Mercedes-Benz cars totaled up to 87,384 in numbers in August, 2011, up by 7.9 percent year-on-year.

He also expected a strong momentum of sales in the second half of 2011, saying that record sales over the past eight months have created a very good basis for the company to meet its full-year target of selling over 1.35 million Mercedes-Benz cars and Smart Fortwo, more than ever before.

The overall sales so far this year in the first eight months have been rocketed by avalanche momentum as its total unit sales hiked by 8.4 percent to amount to 867,379 units.
