HONG KONG, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Monetary Authority Wednesday announced that the city's official foreign currency reserve assets amounted to 279.4 billion U.S. dollars at the end of August, up 600 million U.S. dollars over July.
Including unsettled forward contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong at the end of August stood at 279.4 billion U.S. dollars, the authority said.
The total foreign currency reserve assets represent about nine times the currency in circulation or 55 percent of Hong Kong dollar M3.
