Beijing bans anal TV ads on morning buses

   Date:2006/12/31

Beijing's TV and radio authority has banned anal and intestinal medical treatment advertisements from broadcasting on its bus lines in the morning.

Commuters complained that they lost their appetite when watching the advertisements, which introduced medical treatments for anal and intestinal diseases of a local private hospital.

The authority ordered a ban of the ad and other similar commercials everyday between 7am and 9am.

As a response to passengers' suggestions to play more decent advertisements, the authority will add commonwealth and Beijing Olympic promotions to its roster.

More fashion shows will be available on the city's buses.

News and amusement—two of the most favorable programs among commuters, account for the major proportion of mobile TV viewers.

Mobile TV sets have been installed in metro and bus cabins in big cities around the country. As a good platform for advertising, many private companies use them as advertising medium, especially private hospitals.

Because many private hospitals are excluded from the county's social security system, people seldom go there for treatment. To attract people's attention, they spend a major portion of their advertising budgets on these types of ads.
