Carlyle Group LP, a PE investment giant, officially filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission this Wednesday for an IPO. JP Morgan, CITI Group and Credit Suisse will serve as its underwriters.
According to the IPO document, Carlyle planned to finance US$100M through the IPO, but the final size remained undecided. According to news earlier in June this year, the IPO size might reach US$1.00B.
Carlyle Group LP is the latest PE giant that raises capital through IPO on public market. Prior to this, some other major PE firms including Blackstone Group, Apollo Global Management LLC, and KKR Group had gone public successively. At present the market capitalization of Blackstone is US$14.6B, a 1/3 drop compared with the peak.
