Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) will enlarge its footprint in China soon by setting up production facilities for valves and rubber machinery.

"China is now a major focus area not only to compete in the Chinese market but also to facilitate consolidation of its presence in other overseas markets," said R N Mukhija, President (Operations), L&T.

Having established a fully-owned foreign subsidiary for making low voltage switchgear in Wuxi in Jiangsu Province, L&T is looking at other opportunities in China to consolidate operations.

"L&T is setting up production facilities for valves business in east China's Jiangsu Province and rubber machinery in Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province," Mukhija said.

The company has recently inaugurated a manufacturing facility of L&T Electric Company Limited (LTW) in Wuxi. He further added that the company would invest $11 million in the Wuxi facility and plans to introduce new products in future to meet the requirements of the growing Chinese market.
