Digitimes Research: Spot price of polysilicon in Greater China remains static

   Date:2011/12/05

This week's spot prices of solar products in the Greater China region continued to fall but the pace of decline was slowing down significantly, as the market approached an end of inventory clear-outs, said Chihheng Liang, an analyst of Digitimes Research.

With solar firms lowering capacity utilization and polysilicon prices reaching all-time lows, no one was willing to make lower quotes, added Liang.

The price of polysilicon stopped falling this week due to suspension of production by some China-based small- and medium-size firms. The spot price of polysilicon in China remained static. However, due to continuous low demand in December, it is unlikely for polysilicon firms to increase price any time soon, said Liang.

The prices of solar wafers, cells, and modules did not decrease much this week, showing the positive effects of reduced output, concluded Liang.
