Komatsu Ltd. president Kunio Noji said the company is looking to acquire companies that manufacture electronic components and systems to upgrade its hybrids and mining trucks, according to a Bloomberg report, in an effort to "fend off competition" from companies such as Sany Heavy Industries.

Komatsu is one of few OEMs that install and monitor its own telematics system, and its hybrid excavator is in its second generation.
