Gasgoo.com (Shanghai December 9) - Brilliance BMW announced last week that exports of the BMW 5 Series Li have begun, ynet.com reported. The first exports are destined for the Middle East, sources from the joint venture said. Due to excessively high domestic demand and logistical necessities, exports will be limited in number.

The fact that the BMW 5 Series Li (pictured above) is being exported is a tribute to the model's craftsmanship and superior quality, Brilliance BMW Technical and Production Vice President Knudt Flor said. The JV's factory in Shenyang's Dadong district, where the car is manufactured, has been voted as the nation's top production site by J.D. Power and Associates for several years.

Brilliance BMW has done over one year of work in preparing the 5 Series Li for export. 50 German and 20 Chinese employees have conquered distance, a time difference and a language barrier to get the car ready, Mr. Flor said. BMW has worked hard to adhere to the principles of demand driving production and providing different vehicles for different markets.

In other news, Brilliance BMW's new factory in Shenyang's Tiexi district will begin production early next year.
