Caterpillar Signs Five Year Power Deal with Energyst

   Date:2012/02/01

Caterpillar has followed up its recent international power project (IPP) deals with APR Energy and Energy International by announcing a further IPP partnership with Energyst Cat Rental Power, the Netherlands-based power rental company jointly owned by European Caterpillar dealers.

Cat and Energyst have signed a five year agreement to "globally develop temporary power solutions" with "competitively priced" products from Caterpillar supported by its dealership network.

Gary Smith, chief executive officer of Energyst, said the company saw great opportunities in the IPP market; "By putting this ‘dream team' together with Caterpillar, we are uniquely positioned to leverage the key Cat distribution network in our territories and provide solutions of the highest value to our customers."

Energyst was created several years ago when ten European Cat dealers merged their power rental businesses. The company has most of its depots in Europe, but in recent years it has branched out to South America, and now has offices in Chile and Argentina.

It recently deployed 60 MW of power for a large energy company in Argentina - understood by IRN to be Enarsa (Energia Argentina SA) - and an additional 50 MW is scheduled for placement over the next six weeks.

Bill Rohner, Caterpillar vice president with responsibility for electric power, said; "The experience we gain with Energyst will allow Caterpillar to continue our growth in the international power projects business.

"Through this agreement, we are able to provide the engineering, product expertise and experience to meet the growing temporary power solutions needs of our current and future customers." (Written by Murray Pollok )
