China's coal output and electricity generation rose rapidly in the first ten months. Coal output hit 1.67 billion tons, up 12.2 percent over the same period last year, and the coal industry saw a profit of 52.3 billion yuan (6.54 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 17.6 percent.
Electricity generation reached 2.25 trillion kilowatt-hours, up 13 percent over the same period last year. Thermal power generation was up 15.1 percent and hydroelectricity was up 4.6 percent.
The reported profit of the electricity industry was 103.8 billion yuan, an increase of 37.2 percent over the same period last year.
Oil output remained stable in the first ten months, with crude output at 153.38 million tons, up 1.5 percent, exceeding imports by 33.31 million tons.
