Prices of grains and edible oil have spiked since October in Beijing and provinces like Guangdong and Shandong. Experts say it's the first time in the past two years that grains and edible oil prices have surged outside of the holiday seasons.

In Beijing, the biggest grains and edible oil terminal market saw the flour price per bag, about 25 kilograms, increase 12 percent at the end of November from mid-October. Prices of edible oil even jumped over 20 percent.

Besides, prices of rice and other farm products also rose a bit.
