Medical device maker China Medical Technologies Inc. said Wednesday it successfully developed two new Down syndrome diagnostic reagents and will introduce them early in 2007.

The reagents are aimed at detecting Down syndrome by measuring two known markers of the disorder within maternal serum. The company said the reagents can be used to improve effectiveness of detecting the condition within the first trimester of pregnancy.

The company focuses on making ultrasound products and in-vitro diagnostic systems.
