More than 3.4 mln cars sold between Jan.-Nov. in China

About 3.41 million cars were sold in between January and November, an increase of 40 percent year-on-year, according to figures from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. According to figures, Jetta was the most popular brand in November, followed by Santana and Excelle. The top ten models sold 139,300 units, or 37.26 percent of the national car sales in November.

The country's top 10 sedan manufacturers in the 11-month period this year are: Shanghai GM, FAW Volkswagen, Shanghai Volkswagen, Chery, Beijing Hyundai, Guangzhou Honda, FAW Toyota, FAW Xiali, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen and Geely. Only Chery, FAW Xiali and Geely are Chinese companies, the others are joint ventures.

Sales of the 10 auto makers topped 2.34 million cars from January to November, accounting for 68.71 percent of the country's total. China had between 8.4 and 9 million cars on the road at the end of last year.
