The Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Group in 2006 sold out 360,000 diesel engines with a total sales income of 14.1 billion yuan (some 1,760 million US dollars), taking the lead among its peer firms in the country and topping a single-plant output and sales volume globally.

The group focuses on researches and development of engines with low emission, low noise, low oil consumption and higher performance for environmental protection.

The Yuchai Group developed and produced China's first "Euro 4" diesel engines with China's own intellectual property right, which were put into use in Beijing's bus system in ensuing March. In summer of 2008, this "Euro 4 criteria" engine that matches the advanced global discharging norms will equip two Olympic motorcades to demonstrate China's "green grace" to the outside world.
